Parish Union of Faro launches literary contest

This is a way for the municipality to "encourage creativity and literary production"

The Parish Union of Faro has just launched the Elviro da Rocha Gomes literary competition, whose works must be delivered by 16 August.

This is a way in which the municipality «encourages creativity and literary production in poetry and prose, contributing to the defense and enrichment of the Portuguese language».

According to Bruno Lage, president of this Union of Parishes, «this is also a way of paying homage to the writer, the poet, the teacher of the former high school in Faro Elviro da Rocha Gomes, one of the unavoidable figures of Farense culture, having also been director of the Círculo Cultural do Algarve and collaborator in several regional newspapers».

National or foreign participants can compete, as long as their work is in Portuguese.

There will be three modalities for each literary expression (poetry and prose) that can compete, namely the Adult, Youth and Youth category.

The regulation can be consulted on the website of the Union of Parishes of Faro.
