Protocol brings together economists and young Algarve lawyers

Colloquiums and trainings are planned initiatives

Bringing economists and lawyers together, helping each other, is the main objective of a protocol signed last week, between the Algarve Regional Delegation of the Order of Economists and the National Association of Young Portuguese Lawyers (ANJAP).

Because these are two professions with intrinsic connections and in which, therefore, “there is a lot of field to explore”.

“We found it interesting to have the Order of Economists speak to one of the fundamental pillars, which are the laws. There are a number of areas of law that, in some way, need the area of economics and vice versa», said Luís Serra Coelho, president of the Regional Directorate of the Order of Economists, at the signing of the protocol, to which the Sul Informação watched.

These themes are, for example, related to accounting or taxation.

“There are, in fact, mutual needs, so we view this partnership with great interest. Another issue is that this is a youth association. I think it's important to have a critical mass in the Algarve, people who think about the region and, in that sense, I see interesting interlocutors here», added Luís Serra Coelho.

Cláudio Lima, member of the Regional Directorate of the Ordem dos Economistas, was also present, stressing that this is a protocol to "be taken very seriously".

“It's not just a signature and a paper. We will certainly invite the Association of Young Portuguese Lawyers to work and collaborate with us», he said.

On the ANJAP side, the opening is complete.

«We want to bring more dynamism from the young lawyers in the Algarve. Our idea is to establish contacts and this is the first protocol we do. Now we want to put it into practice, taking into account the knowledge that each one can bring», explained Ivo Belchior Dias, president of the Regional Directorate of Faro of ANJAP.

For now, both entities will still study how the protocol can be materialized. Still, colloquia and trainings are initiatives that must move forward.

On the part of the National Association of Young Portuguese Lawyers, a « gap in the training part » is identified.

"We can provide, for example, legal support in the area of insolvency, and economists can provide us with accounting knowledge," he concluded.
