Portimão Civil Protection provided training in Basic Life Support for parents and children

Parents and children learned more about how to respond to medical emergencies

The Civil Protection of Portimão promoted a masterclass of Basic Life Support, on May 9th, aimed at parents and children, at the Pedra Mourinha Basic School, belonging to the Júdice Fialho Schools Group.

This session took place within the scope of the TRIM risk education project, developed by the group of 4th grade teachers, in partnership with the Association of Parents and Civil Protection.

Knowing that cardiorespiratory arrest is a sudden event, constituting one of the main causes of death worldwide, teachers, parents and students learned the Basic Life Support procedures, on the basis that «these gestures substantially increase the probability of victim survival when started within the first few minutes after cardiac arrest'.

"The greater the number of people informed about what to do in case of a medical emergency, and more specifically in case of cardiac arrest, more lives can be saved and without a doubt we will have a more resilient society, ready to act in the face of risky situations or occurrences”, point out the teachers of the 4th year of that school.
