Maritime Police rescue whale trapped in a hammock on Dona Ana beach

Animal was released "with life and no visible injuries"

A whale that got caught in a fishing gear off Dona Ana beach, in Lagos, was rescued yesterday by two agents of the Maritime Police of Lagos, with the help of the crew of some private boats.

The National Maritime Authority (AMN) was alerted to the cetacean trapped in a net and sent a team to the scene on a personal watercraft, which managed to remove the cables that held the whale and release it “with life and no visible injuries”.

The agents told «with the collaboration of some private vessels», according to AMN.
