Pinheiro e Rosa pays tribute to the driver who saved students from Faro of a serious accident

Driver avoided the accident that killed two people on the IP6 in Peniche

The driver of the bus carrying 48 students and teachers from Escola Neves Júnior, from Faro, and who managed to escape the serious accident that occurred on 26th April, at IP6, in Peniche, thanks to his «expertise, cold-bloodedness and professional competence», was honored today at the Pinheiro e Rosa School, headquarters of the group with the same name, in the capital of the Algarve.

The grouping of schools from Faro, to which the EB 2,3 school belongs, whose students and teachers were very close to being affected by the accident that caused two deaths in Peniche and which made national news, made a point of publicly saluting the man who prevented this accident from turning into "a national catastrophe" - although the school does not despise the two lost lives, "which in itself is a reason to regret and express our condolences to the families of the victims."

«The bus transporting our students was hit by the wreckage of the collisions, but got rid of the frontal collision at the last moment, having in good time been diverted to the opposite lane, thus avoiding a catastrophe of undetermined consequences, as can be seen for the video that recorded the fateful moment», says the director of the Pinheiro e Rosa Group.

However, the school has already provided “psychological support for students and teachers who need it following this occurrence”.
