Minister Manuel Heitor comes to the presentation of the Algarve Technological Pole

Installation of the Technological Pole will cost more than 5,4 million euros

O Algarve Technological Pole will be publicly presented on Saturday, May 4th, at 11:30 am, in a session scheduled for the Penha Campus of the University of Algarve (UAlg), in Faro, which will be attended by Manuel Heitor, Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education.

This is a project whose global investment is over 5,4 million euros, 3,8 million of which will be guaranteed by the European Union.

«The Algarve Technological Pole aims to be a focus of attraction for regional, national and international companies, in line with the Algarve Regional Development Strategy – RIS3 and with the objectives proposed by PO Algarve, seeking to attract a significant number of companies with established activity, with a privileged relationship with the University and responsible for a growing volume of export-oriented business», according to UAlg.

This new field will play "jointly functions as a center for the enhancement and transfer of knowledge and a science and technology park" and "will seek to aggregate skills aimed at technological development and innovation in economic activity sectors with consolidated or emerging expression in the Algarve, namely the TICE, Health and Welfare and Energy”, according to the university.

How to Live Aligned with o Sul Informação had already advanced, the Technological Pole will seek to «adapt and expand existing spaces, guaranteeing the adequate conditions for an integrated functioning of an already numerous entrepreneurial fabric, encompassing the various aspects of the TICE and enabling the execution of intersectoral projects, based on the valuation and transfer of knowledge, on the reception of companies and on the interaction with research units of the University, fostering the creation of new knowledge-based companies».

The infrastructure area for hosting companies will be 6.134 square meters, of which 5.360 square meters are part of the Science and Technology Park infrastructure (Algarve Tech Hub – 4.495 square meters) and the Knowledge Recovery and Transfer Center infrastructure (Clinical Simulation Center – 865 square meters).
