Young people from schools in the Algarve embark on Portuguese Navy ships

They sailed on the NRP Hidra and NRP Cassiopeia Rapid Inspection Boats

A total of 84 students and eight teachers from Algarve schools embarked on Portuguese Navy ships, in four sea baptism sailings, as part of the Navy Day celebrations, organized by the Southern Maritime Zone Command, in collaboration with the General Directorate of School Establishments (DGEstE) in the Algarve.

Students and teachers from the Poeta António Aleixo and Manuel Teixeira Gomes Secondary Schools, both from Portimão, and from the Dr. Francisco Fernandes Lopes Secondary School, from Olhão, took part in these four trips to the sea.

Students from these schools had the opportunity to sail with the sailors of the Rapid Inspection Boats NRP Hidra and NRP Cassiopeia and to get to know life aboard these Portuguese Navy ships.

The young people showed "great curiosity and interest" in the activities on board, having asked "several questions about recruitment and careers in the Navy", says this entity in a press release.
