FIMA ends “Música e Viagens” at Teatro das Figuras

Tickets cost 15 euros

Daniel Stabrawa and Máté Szücs are the guest soloists for the concert “Música e Viagens” which marks the closing of the 34th Algarve International Music Festival (FIMA), this Friday, May 31st, at Teatro das Figuras, in Faro.

Conductor Rui Pinheiro will direct the Orquestra Clássica do Sul in this final concert.

“Música e Viagens” was the theme chosen for the final concert of this edition of FIMA. According to Rui Pinheiro, «great travels were always an inevitable consequence for the most successful composers» and in that fact was inspired for the evening program of May 31st.

“When CM von Weber received the invitation to write the opera “Oberon”, based on the work of Shakespeare, he embarked on a trip to London to better master the English language”, he says.

On the other hand, «Mozart, as a composer and interpreter of his works, made a long European tour with passages in Mannheim, Paris and Munich, where he received strong stylistic and formal influences», says Rui Pinheiro.

The Czech composer A. Dvorák traveled to the United States of America and his 9th Symphony was the result of a commission by the New York Philharmonic Orchestra.

The Southern Classical Orchestra will accompany on this musical journey two internationally renowned musicians – Daniel Stabrawa (violin), soloist at the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, and Máté Szücs (viola), who also attended the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra but is currently a professor at the Haute École of Musique de Geneva.

Tickets cost 15 euros and can be purchased at the event venue and through the online ticket office available here
