OCS Choir opens with concerts in Faro and Tavira

Concerts take place on the 7th and 8th of June

O Choir of the Southern Classical Orchestra (OCS) will debut with two symphonic choral concerts taking place in Faro and Tavira, on the 7th and 8th of June, always at 21 pm. The absolute debut of this new project takes place at the Grande Auditório das Gambelas of the University of Algarve, in Faro, followed, on the following day, by a presentation at the Igreja do Carmo, in the city of Gilão.

In both concerts, the OCS choir, directed by Rui Baeta and accompanied by the Algarve orchestra, guided by conductor Rui Pinheiro, as well as by Paulina Sá Machado (soprano) and Marta Aguiar Magalhães (mezzo-soprano), will interpret the theme “ Gloria in D major, RV 589”, by Antonio Vivaldi. The program also includes Beethoven's Symphony No. 2.

As the Orquestra Clássica do Sul illustrates, this is a «participatory choir», which, «due to its connection to the orchestra, will be the only structure of its kind in the south of the country».

«The creation of a classical music choir allows to broaden the range of productions that can be presented by the Orquestra Clássica do Sul, taking into account very specific repertoires, in parallel with the new experiences it will provide to the participants», added the OCS.
