A piano concert with João Rosa and lectures are initiatives with which Casa Manuel Teixeira Gomes will celebrate, from May 27th to June 5th, the 159th anniversary of the birth of its patron.
In addition to the current year's program, the anniversary celebration will focus on some aspects of Manuel Teixeira Gomes' personality that deserve more attention: the enlightened and passionate music lover; the businessman and main exporter of figs in the Algarve at his time; the writer and his first literary work, “Inventário de Junho” (1899) and the student in his academic career and in his bohemian life.
The celebrations take place on the week of his birthday, between 27 May and 5 June, and will take place in the facilities of the Municipality of Portimão, of which Manuel Teixeira Gomes is patron: the Manuel Teixeira Gomes House and the Manuel Teixeira Gomes Municipal Library, as well as in the Manuel Teixeira Gomes School Group.
All events are free to enter.
