The PSD/Tavira is "indignant and very concerned" with the garbage that is washing the coast on the beaches and calls the situation an “environmental crime”.

In a statement, the Social Democrats expressed "their indignation at the silence of the socialist municipal executive regarding what is happening off our sea coast."

«The result of the dredging carried out in the River Gilão is in plain sight. A regrettable scenario of mud, plastics, tires and fishing artifacts, deposited on the sand of the desert island of Tavira, which the two uprisings of the last few weeks helped to discover», writes the PSD.

Cristóvão Norte, deputy in the Assembly of the Republic of the PSD, has also come out in public to react to this situation, calling it shameful.

“It is an environmental crime. It is now important to know: either the company did not fulfill the contract and the State did not inspect it or the State, through savings and premeditatedly, allowed sediments that it knew were not clean to be thrown into the sea, thus being the moral author».

The dredging is the responsibility of Docapesca and began in November last year, with the objective of improving the navigability and safety conditions of the channel and the implementation of a set of platforms along the river.
