ARTgilão and Misericórdia launch cards to facilitate visits to churches in Tavira

Cards cost 6 or 8 euros and will be on sale from May 2nd

Two cards to visit the most important and significant Churches in the historic city of Tavira were developed in a partnership between ARTgilão TAVIRA and Santa Casa da Misericórdia tavirense. The new cards, which aim to make life easier for tourists, will be on sale from the 2nd of May.

One of the cards will give access to the churches in the Historic Center of Tavira, that is, Santa Maria Church, Misericórdia Church and Santiago Church and will cost 6 euros. The other card will give access to these same Churches and also to the Church of São Paulo and will cost 8 euros.

“This way, tourists who visit the city will have easier access to these spaces, getting to know them as well as the sacred art pieces they house,” explains Father Miguel Neto, parish priest of Tavira.

They can also “visit the exhibitions that are on display there, such as the Igreja da Misericórdia, which houses an exhibition of sacred paintings, and the Igreja de São Paulo, where a photographic exhibition entitled “Via Crucis” can be visited. photographic works by students of the professional school Gil Eanes (Portimão) that make a contemporary interpretation of the last steps of the life of Christ».

Cards can be purchased at the ARTgilão Tavira store, located in the Church of Santa Maria and at the Church of the Misericórdia de Tavira store.

A company Artgilão Tavira – Religiosas e Turísticas, Lda was created by the parishes of Tavira to “be able to financially explore all the possibilities that may arise in this parish, in order to be able to apply the income generated in the recovery of the religious heritage in its care”.

In fact, this company already has two restoration techniques working continuously and it has several initiatives in preparation, which involve the promotion and preservation of the religious heritage in its care.
