Algarve had more deaths and accidents since the beginning of the year

In the first three months of the year (January, February and March) there were more deaths, more accidents and more serious injuries on the roads of the Algarve, according to the assessment made by the National Road Safety Authority

In total, 10 people have died on the Algarve's roads since the beginning of the year. The accidents were 2116 (they had been 2097 last year).

As for serious injuries, there were 44, between January and March 2019, while, in the same period of 2018, there were 41.

Nationally, there were fewer road accidents (31.961 in 2018, against 31.173 this year). Even so, there were more deaths – 116 in total, instead of 112 in the same period of the previous year.

Finally, serious injuries rose: 454, 62 more than in the same period in 2018.
