Loulé recalls Duarte Pacheco's legacy

“O País a Régua and Esquadro: Urbanism, Architecture and Memory in Duarte Pacheco's Public Works” is the theme of a conference to be held on March 16, at 15 pm, at the Loulé Municipal Archive.

Duarte Pacheco's public work begins in 1925 and runs until 1943, when he died.

«Considering its mode of operation and identifying its method of work in areas as different as the direction of the Instituto Superior Técnico, the management of the Municipality of Lisbon, the Ministry of Public Instruction and the Ministry of Public Works and Communications, the work de Duarte Pacheco appears in a new perspective, possible through the collection of an unprecedented piece of information that clarifies in time and in the way, the services and agents that, in a space of 18 years, changed the landscape of the country», says the Chamber of Loule.

Sandra Vaz Costa, the lecturer, holds a PhD in History from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Lisbon, in addition to being an integrated researcher at ARTIS-FLUL, the Institute of Art History of the same Faculty and Superior Technician of the Directorate-General for Cultural Heritage.

Author and co-author of national and international books and scientific articles in the field of History of Art, Architecture, Cities and Institutions, she develops research in the scope of the Territory, Urban Design and Portuguese Architectural Production of the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries.

She performed teaching duties at the Faculty of Arts from 2009 to 2011 as a guest assistant and as a trainer of senior technicians at IPPAR from 2003 to 2007.

In carrying out its technical functions, it develops and coordinates research, safeguarding and dissemination of Portuguese cultural heritage, such as curating exhibitions, studies, editions, scientific meetings and communications.
