Government declares Alert Status and prohibits burning until Sunday

The government also banned fires throughout the national territory from this Wednesday until Sunday

The Government signed an order that determines the declaration of Alert Situation between the 27th and 31st of March, based on weather forecasts, which point to a "significant worsening of the risk of forest fire".

For the same reasons, the Government prohibited the carrying out of fires throughout the national territory from this Wednesday until Sunday.

«Given the weather forecasts for the coming days, which point to a significant increase in the risk of forest fire in the mainland territory, and considering the decision of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority, which determined the passage of the Special Fire Fighting Device Rural to the Yellow Special Alert State in all districts», the ministers of the Internal Administration and of Agriculture, Forests and Rural Development signed the Dispatch that determines the Declaration of the Alert Situation, according to the Government's communiqué released this Tuesday .

The declaration of the Alert Situation, provided for in the Basic Civil Protection Law, will require the adoption of "exceptional" measures, such as "increasing the level of operational readiness and response of the GNR and PSP", reinforcing "means for operations surveillance, inspection, patrols to deter risk behaviors and general support to the protection and rescue operations that may be undertaken».

This situation also implies the prohibition of "burning, burning of leftover agricultural and forestry explorations and fuel management actions with the use of fire", as well as the dismissal of workers, both in the public and private sectors, who perform the functions of a volunteer firefighter.

The Alert Status covers all districts on the continent, between 00:00 today, March 27, and 23:59 March 31, Sunday.
