The 32 tourists who were on board the maritime tourist vessel «Manguito», which ran aground this afternoon in Praia da Marina, next to Praia da Rocha, were rescued safe and sound by Ferragudo's lifeguard.

Correio da Manhã says that there were five children among the passengers.

According to the National Maritime Authority, The picket of the Local Command of the Maritime Police of Portimão received yesterday, March 2nd, at 16:20, the alert of a maritime-tourist vessel, «indicating that it had a hole on board, being sailing back to the port of Portimao".

A Maritime Police vessel and two vessels from Ferragudo's Salva-Vidas Station were mobilized to help.

The damaged vessel ran aground inside the port, on the Marina beach, in order to avoid sinking, with 32 passengers (including five children) being rescued by lifeboats, not requiring medical assistance.

The Maritime Police, which accompanied the passenger transfer operation, is now investigating what happened to the vessel.
