Mobile unit brings health to the interior of the municipality of Tavira

Acquisition of equipment «aimed at reducing users' asymmetry in access to primary health care by the National Health Service (SNS)»

Tavira has a new unit of health Mobile, which will ensure that the population in the interior of the municipality, namely in the parishes of Santa Catarina da Fonte do Bispo and Cachopo, have access to proximity healthcare.

According to the Municipality of Tavira, the acquisition of this mobile unit, which cost 61 thousand euros (plus VAT), "aimed at reducing the asymmetry of users in accessing primary health care from the National Health Service (NHS), especially in the areas rural and sparsely populated, as well as reinforcing the adequate coverage of users to the functional units of the Algarve Health Center groups».

Thus, the inhabitants of Santa Catarina da Fonte do Bispo and Cachopo “will benefit from screenings, measurements, diagnoses and different types of technical advice”.

This Mobile Health Unit was acquired through the purchasing center of the Intermunicipal Community of Algarve (CC-Amal), as part of an application to the Regional Operational Program CRESC Algarve 2020, called Proximity Mobile Health Units, financed at 80%.

"The purpose of adopting this measure is to create a network of mobile health units to provide proximity care, qualify existing equipment and reduce inequalities, promoting social inclusion," explained the Tavirense autarchy.
