The direction of Olhanense publicly "regretted" Sérgio Conceição's statements about the existence of wages in arrears when the coach passed by the Algarve team, asking for "respect".

The statements of the current FC Porto coach were made this Friday, February 15, in anticipation of the match between the dragons and Vitória de Sétubal, with Conceição stating that «it was difficult to train Olhanense with four or five months of salaries in arrears”, adding that there were players with “difficulty in finding food to eat at home”.

Olhanense, in a statement sent to newsrooms, repudiates these statements which, according to the direction of the Algarvian club, "do not correspond to the truth."

"Mr Sérgio Conceição should have greater respect for the first club that trusted him, giving him the opportunity to start his career as head coach, which makes us very proud, given the successes he has achieved," says the same statement.

"To date, Olhanense has never had more than two months of delay in the salaries of its athletes, as well as any difficulties reported to the Club's management were immediately resolved, even if it was with recourse to personal loans from the respective managers", he adds. .

"Proving what we said, we have in our possession the agreement document, concerning two months of arrears, upon termination with the aforementioned technician in January 2013, which is being fulfilled religiously, so it is regrettable that if you pass information, out of context, that does not correspond to the truth, it is also regrettable to be bringing to the public such a delicate matter, which calls into question a club with the history and longevity of Sporting Clube Olhanense», concludes the statement.

The coach, current national champion, passed by Olhanense in the 2011/2012 season, taking the Algarvian club to 8th place in the I League. In the following season (2012/2013), Sérgio Conceição still played 17 games in charge of the Algarve, but ended up leaving, after months of deadlock.
