There is no record of injuries, only material damage

A fire in an annex next to the Pestana Viking hotel, on Senhora da Rocha beach (Lagoa), forced this morning to remove guests from that hotel, but "just as a precaution", he told the Sul Informação the commander of the Fire Department of Lagoa. There is no record of injuries.

The fire, which is already extinguished, being in the «aftermath phase», destroyed a garage attached to the hotel, where 18 vehicles were stored. According to the same source, "six cars and one motorcycle were totally destroyed", with the rest also suffering damage.

According to the District Relief Operations Command (CDOS) of Faro, the fire alert was given at 7:37 am.

There are still 31 operating at the site, supported by 12 vehicles from the fire brigades of Lagoa, Portimão, Silves and Albufeira.

Commander Rio Alves, from the Lagoa Fire Department, explained to our newspaper that "hotel guests were evacuated only as a precaution, to avoid any possible inhalation of smoke." Right now, with firefighters in aftermath operations, the situation is already normalized.
