The Chamber of Faro will transfer 280 euros to school groups in the county, with the aim of «giving the county's schools financial autonomy and the capacity to act to develop their work».
The protocol for the transfer of powers and resources to the council's groupings, for the year 2019, was unanimously approved today, Monday, at a Chamber meeting.
"To the amount proposed for the transfer of means, there is also the allocated amount of about 108 euros for school social action, which can only be distributed after the beginning of the school year, according to the number of needy students in the county', according to the Chamber of Faro.
In this way, the autarchy wants to «strengthen the autonomy of the direction of the groups, putting into practice an integrated strategy of local management of the school park to respond to the needs of educational establishments».
"It is also intended to privilege the role of the municipality's school groups in diagnosing needs and defining educational planning measures, promoting agility and efficiency and ensuring a school park favorable to educational practice," added the Chamber of Faro.
In addition to the transfer of competences and the respective financial means, the municipality «continues to offer school manuals and teaching materials to the most needy, without forgetting breakfast, lunch and transport, which the City Council of Faro will continue to provide free of charge to those who are demonstrably in need”
"Education thus continues to be a priority political commitment, from the outset by investing in improving the conditions available for the practice of teaching and by strengthening the support to the boards, which has allowed for more functional and modern schools", concluded the Chamber of Faro.
