The designer Sílvia Rodrigues, businesswoman from Loulé and founder of the brand Sigues, is the first Portuguese woman to be present at an edition of the Salon Internacional de la Moda Flamenca (SIMOF), which this year takes place from February 7th to 10th, in Seville ( Spain).

This young Portuguese designer will share her experience at the event together with Marisol Torres, an Andalusian businesswoman.

Both will be promoting their respective work with the support of the Intrepida project – Internationalization of Women Entrepreneurs from Spain and Portugal for Insertion, Development and Alliances – which is coordinated by the Tres Culturas Del Mediterráneo Foundation, an initiative aimed at boosting cross-border cooperation between Portugal and Spain through the Interreg POCTEP programme.

The main objective of the Intrepida project is to boost the business competitiveness of SMEs run by women in the cross-border territory of Andalusia, Algarve and Alentejo, promoting their internationalization through new models of development and commercial cooperation.

This includes support for these two businesswomen by financing their participation in SIMOF 2019, ensuring the costs of the stand at the event, as well as accommodation in the Andalusian city and travel.

The two entrepreneurs met at the 2st BXNUMXB Meeting Together We Are More — an initiative promoted by the INTREPIDA project —, held in Faro, last November. Both use the same raw material, paper, working it differently, but with the common characteristic of customizing each piece, combining aesthetics with quality.

Vítor Aleixo, Mayor of Loulé, highlights the importance of the Intrepida project, stating that «in the objectives we set for the 2019-2020 biennium of supporting entrepreneurship in Loulé, the internationalization of regional projects is one of the strong pillars we set out to work on, and in this line, support for consistent and continued cross-border cooperation is essential for us to be able to promote the economy and social development in a more effective and efficient way. For what I consider the participation of the creative Sílvia Rodrigues in the Intrepida project and now at the Salão Internacional de la Moda Flamenca a great augury for fruitful and long cross-border collaborations».

Sílvia Rodrigues started more than 10 years ago in the creation of jewelry on newsprint and created her own brand, Sigues. She was the first designer in this area in Europe and one of the first in the world, having been distinguished by several national and international awards. Currently, he develops his activity in the creative community, Loulé Design Lab, a project by the Municipality of Loulé.

For Sílvia Rodrigues, the Intrepida project «represents a fundamental support for the development of my brand, providing the fundamental tools for the internationalization of Sigues in Spain. Both at the event in Seville and at the event in Faro I was able to receive training in Internationalization, I was able to network with other businesswomen and thus establish some important partnerships for the growth and expansion of Sigues».

For her part, Marisol Torres founded her own company in 2016, developing a personal and innovative project. This is how the Mariblu brand was born, dedicated to the creation of handcrafted pieces for floral decoration and paper jewelry, which it produces in the artistic co-working space in Cádiz: Piedra, Papel, Tijera. His work is essentially focused on the elaboration of bridal bouquets, having recently started to create small collections for the flamenco world.

Funded by the Interreg program Poctep Spain and Portugal, approved by the European Union for the European Regional Development Fund, the Intrepida project develops other activities such as the B2B business meeting Together We Are More Work Forums, Training in Internationalization and ICT for businesswomen, Visits to Business and Pedagogical Awareness in entrepreneurship in schools.

The Tres Culturas Del Mediterráneo Foundation, for the Intrepida project, also has the collaboration of Fundación Universidad Empresa de la Province of Cádiz (FUECA) and Diputación de Huelva. In Portugal, it has a partnership with the associations NERE and NERPOR, in Alentejo, and is in talks with the association REGIOTIC in the Algarve so that this entity integrates the group of official project partners.
