Burmester plays Mozart and Beethoven in an "unmissable show" in Faro

“Concerto Coral Sinfônico” from the 3rd Algarve Piano Festival will bring together 125 musicians on stage at Teatro das Figuras

It will be an “unmissable show”, with well-known works by two renowned composers and which will bring together on stage an unusual number of 125 musicians. The Theater of Figures, in Faro, hosts today, at 21 pm, a “Symphonic Choir Concert”, which brings together the pianist Pedro Burmester, the Cascais e Oeiras Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Vasco Pearce de Azevedo, and the Lisbon Cantat choir.

Whoever is present in the Farense concert hall, this evening, will be able to hear Beethoven's Symphonic Choral Fantasy, a work written for piano, choir and orchestra, as well as Mozart's Requiem, one of the composer's most emblematic works.

This will be the fourth concert of the Algarve Piano Festival, an initiative of the Arte do Sul association that has the support and is part of the “365Algarve” schedule, «it's the biggest of all to be held in the Algarve, so far, in the current season», he revealed to Sul informação maestro Armando Mota, artistic director of the festival.

Em Faro, will be “presented two important pieces by two great composers”, in a show that, “in the Algarve, it doesn't happen very often”, illustrated maestro Armando Mota.

Tonight's concert reflects well one of the philosophies of the festival's promoters, who “ostensibly bet on Portuguese artists” – even though there is room for international musicians.

The place where the show takes place is also the result of one of the novelties of this third edition of the event, the realization of initiatives not only in Portimão, but also in the Algarve capital and in Loulé.

It will be in this last city, at the Cine-Teatro Louletano, that one of the highlights of the program will take place: the world premiere of a work composed by Mário Laginha, commissioned by the festival, scheduled for April 18th.

«We asked Mário Laginha for something a little out of his area, as he will write a string quartet, which will have its absolute debut at the Cine-Teatro. There will be a quartet on stage and Laginha at the piano», he revealed.

Armando Mota does not hide his «proud to sell out theaters, in winter, in the Algarve, with Portuguese artists». In fact, in this edition of the festival, «all the shows we've performed have sold out». And the profile of the festival's audience is already well defined: «85% are resident foreigners», reveals the conductor.

Tickets for tonight's show, at Teatro das Figuras, cost 20 euros and can be purchased online.
