The municipalities of Alcoutim, Loulé and São Brás de Alportel will financially support the Group for the Sanitary Defense of Cattle, Sheep and Goats of the Municipality of Alcoutim (ADS of Alcoutim), under a protocol aimed at promoting public health and veterinary.
The biggest contribution will be made by the Chamber of Alcoutim, which will provide a sum of 10 thousand euros. Loulé contributes 9 euros and São Brás 750 euros.
This distribution of funds results from a «weighing the number of farms in each municipality, number of planned actions and distance traveled in each territory».
Alcoutim ADS, based in Giões, is a non-profit association that aims to prevent and combat diseases that can be transmitted from animals to people, as well as animal diseases that affect the economic profitability of a livestock operation. In addition to Alcoutim, ADS develops its activities in the municipalities of Tavira, Loulé and São Brás de Alportel.
«At the basis of this decision is the equitable distribution of the amounts of financial support given to the association. This is a fairer form of support, since, with the shared effort, we get greater financial support, which will also provide significant improvements in the financial situation of ADS», stated the president of the Chamber of Alcoutim Osvaldo Gonçalves.
