The book “Breves Retalhos de Humor”, by Manuel Palma, is presented next Friday, January 18, at 17:30 pm, at the Castro marim Municipal Library.
The Castromarinense author already has "a wide range of published works, mostly poetry, in his own name or through collaborations, such as the case of the Poetas do Guadiana group to which he belongs," says the Chamber of Castro Marim.
“Breve Retalhos de Humor” collects a series of humorous poems, reports of a reality observed by him.
António Cabrita, author of the book's preface, says about the author who “who doesn't know him, nor does he know his work, will tend to classify him in the category of popular poet, with an easy rhyme. This is not a question of impropriety, for this type of people, but the author goes far beyond popular verses, becoming a scholar, in the forms he uses in his poetry, even manifesting traces of historical research, when necessary and knowledge very current in the world around it».
"The work demonstrates the author's enthusiasm in the way he sees the world today, a poet with strong rural roots, protagonist and defender of popular poetry as one of the oldest forms of artistic transmission among the people", says the Chamber of Castro Marim.
«Manuel Palma uses all these so-called “popular” resources progressively, as his writing is clear and objective, not preventing him from transmitting his advice, his impressions and above all his experiences, shared here in the form of 31 poems” , concludes.
The book will be available at the Castro Marim Municipal Library.
