“Paços do Concelho de Lagoa: Requalifying the Educating City to build full Citizenship” is the theme of the conference that will take place in Lagoa, on the 16th of January.
The conference, which will be chaired by the Mayor Francisco Martins, is part of the commemorations of the 246th anniversary of the creation of the Municipality of Lagoa (1773-2019).
This action is part of the conference cycle «Res publish 2018~2019», organized within the scope of the installation, in the former Paços do Concelho in Lagos, of MuCid | Museum of Social and Political Movements and Citizenship.
MuCid «positions itself as a space of relationship with the community, where, in close association with museum contents, collaborative and shared actions are designed in the field of exercising civic, political and social rights and duties and collective expression organized in in favor of social changes, by different societies, both locally and nationally and worldwide», says the Câmara de Lagoa.
At a time when the «implementation strategies» of what will be the council's first museological equipment are being discussed, the conference aims to open «dialogue between the specialists who make up the museum's installation team and the population, a fact that involves particular importance for the vision-mission of Lagoa, Cidade Educadora, to promote Citizenship through Education, Knowledge and Dialogue with the World», adds the municipality.
The conference program includes interventions in several areas of complementary historical research, from museology to architecture, from archival to art history, being «an opportunity to learn about the general features of the museum project that will be born in the property that best symbolizes governance and citizenship locally, home to the exercise of autarchy and democratic expression par excellence».
Under discussion will be both the proposal to adapt the building and the preliminary analysis of historical documentation that supports the options outlined for the architecture and museography of the future space.
The conference, scheduled to start at 18:00, will take place in the Chamber Session Room, Paços do Concelho de Lagoa, with free admission.
