“War” due to the extinction of Novbaesuris closes services in Castro Marim

Chamber accuses PS of hindering the transition after extinction of the municipal company. PS says that the social-democratic executive closes equipment because he wants

The closure of the municipal company of Castro Marim Novbaesuris will motivate “the closure for an indefinite period of the public facilities that are under the management of that entity, now in the beginning of the liquidation process”, announced the Chamber.

At issue is the opening to the public of facilities such as the Casa do Sal, the Revelim de Santo António, the Castle and the Casa de Odeleite, which were being managed by Novbaesuris.

According to the Chamber of Castro Marim, the need to close is due to the fact that "the information and the necessary means were not made available to fulfill the public intention to maintain certain services" by the Board of Directors of the company, which was officially extinct on December 31st and is on sale.

Célia Brito, president of the Board of Directors of Novbaesuris and councilor for the opposition, guarantees that the closing of these equipment has nothing to do with her team. "The spaces belong to the Chamber, which has the power to allocate employees there, in order to keep them open," he assured the South Informationo the councilor elected by the PS.

“The Chamber did not take care of these situations in a timely manner and chose to close these services. If they are closed, it's all the executive's fault," he said.

The decision of the municipal social-democratic executive to extinguish the company, announced in mid-December, was, moreover, contested by the socialists.

In November, the Chamber received a report from the Court of Auditors that revealed that there were irregularities and even illegalities linked to the company's procedures, some of which had lasted for several years.

This led the Chamber of Castro Marim to choose to close the company, as he revealed to the Sul Informação the president of the municipality, the social democrat Francisco Amaral, the TC report does not give another alternative.

Even so, days later, the municipality admitted that there might eventually be a solution, but that it could not be implemented “in good time”.

"The proposal to close Novbaesuris was considered by this executive to be the most responsible and sensible solution given the report of the Court of Auditors, received in November 2018 and for the years 2010 to 2016, and given the absence of other solutions and studies of viability in good time, that is, that would not jeopardize the financial sustainability of this entity, in question from January 2019", framed the Chamber.

On the other hand, the autarchy was always keen to stress that the Novbaesuris administration never presented an alternative

In the conversation he had with the Sul Informação, Célia Brito assured that the Board of Directors of the municipal company, which he presides over, has always tried to be on the side of the solution.

“What we dispute is that everything could have been minimized if a program contract had been signed for a year. This would give time to pass all the employees and equipment, without surprises», he considered.

The situation of the company's 38 employees is another of the fronts that are open in this war. And if the situation of workers who were part of Novbaesuris was relatively simple to resolve, the same is not true for workers with fixed-term contracts, who are, in total, 11.

In a note sent to the media, the PSD executive places the onus on the municipal company's Board of Directors. "Since it is the future of the 38 employees involved and their respective families, this Municipal Council has the responsibility to publicly inform that on 26 December, by unilateral decision, the administration of Novbaesuris is not available, not even to the means of the municipal company, to ensure a facilitating transitional period, sticking to the strict interpretation of the law,” says the Chamber.

This led, they accuse, to the signing of agreements on the 28th of December for 24 workers, who are transferred to the municipal staff, but that the 11 jobs of the only ones that were on a fixed term have been left without a decision. .

Célia Brito disputes these statements and says that "they do not correspond, in the slightest, to the truth".

"Since the request was made, we have always asked for proposals to be presented to resolve the situation of these 11 employees, but so far, the executive has not presented anything," he accused.

On the other hand, he said, the solution will never be able to pass through the municipal company, since this «was extinct on the 31st and is in liquidation». This means, he assured, that he cannot keep employees for legal reasons.

"If there had been bad faith on our part, we would not have signed the 24 transfer contracts, which we are ready to do right away," added the socialist councilor.

Despite the differences between the Chamber and the main opposition party, the executive believes that, in the next six months, Novabaesuris will see “its services, and the respective 38 employees, internalized in the Castro Marim Municipal Chamber”.
