Falcon 50 Air Force transported organs on New Year's Eve

It was the "28th mission of this typology carried out in 2018"

The Air Force spent the last night of the year on a mission to transport organs for transplantation, between the Azores and the continent. It was the «28th mission of this typology carried out in 2018, completed in this case by the alert crew of Squadron 504 – Linces, which operates the Falcon 50 aircraft».

During the afternoon of the last day of the year, December 31, the Air Force had already rescued a passenger from the cruise ship Saga Pearl II, about 340 kilometers southwest of Montijo.

The FAP explains that “an 85-year-old patient of British nationality needed specialized medical assistance and had to be recovered by Squadron 751 – Pumas, which operates the EH-101 Merlin helicopter, with support from Squadron 502 – Elephants, which operates the C-295M aircraft'.

This was the second rescue in a few days on the ship Saga Pearl II, as last Friday, 28 December, the detachment of Squadron 751 in Porto Santo, Madeira, rescued another patient on that vessel, off Funchal.
