Psychological support will be extended to the 2nd cycle, when until now it was only given in the 1st cycle

The Psychological Support Team of Basic Education schools in Lagos was reinforced. The Council of Lagos unanimously approved a deepening of the existing partnership between the municipality and the two groups of schools in the municipality, allocating more human resources to this team, "which will allow to extend the scope of psychosocial support to the 2nd cycle of education as well. Basic".

"This work will embody a first-rate intervention with students, families and the respective school community, with the objective of preventing and desizing risk situations, contributing to the school success of students, establishing intervention and inclusion strategies for students. students and families in the community”, according to the Municipality of Lagos.

At the same time, the Psychological Support (Psychopedagogical and Psychosocial) that had already been provided in the 1st Cycle will be maintained.

«Within the scope of signaling, the Psychological Support Team – currently made up of 3 Senior Technicians – will establish contact with the various stakeholders, carry out the assessment and/or direct psychological support (with the child) or indirect (with other stakeholders), (if necessary) for other entities and will collaborate in information/training activities open to the educational community», explained the municipality.

The municipality is also expected to participate in the Multidisciplinary Support Team for Inclusive Education, in light of a law approved last July, «which enshrines the possibility for schools to establish partnerships with local government services to support the multidisciplinary team and for implementation measures to support learning and inclusion, in order to enhance synergies, skills and local resources».
