Lura's concert sets the tone for the theme year «Lagoa, Inclusive City»

In the end, there were those who went up on stage to dance with Lura and her band

Lura, singer of the new wave of Cape Verdean music, heated up the Carlos do Carmo Auditorium, on January 19, in a concert as part of the commemorations of the 246th anniversary of the creation of the municipality of Lagoa and in the presentation of the thematic year of 2019 that will take place under the motto of “Inclusive City Lagoon”.

The ceremony included the exhibition of two videos, one with the participation of young people from Lagos, about respect for human rights, and the other with elements from the various communities residing in the municipality, portraying what it is like to live in Lagoa.

Luís Encarnação, vice president of the Chamber, pointed out that «after the thematic years, from 2018 onwards, we embraced the great cause “Lagoa Cidade Educadora”. We will continue, in 2019, in constant relationship with the community, in an "Inclusive City Lagoon", which is the bet until 2021, always maintaining the connection to full citizenship with causes such as "Lagoa Cidade Inteligente" and "Lagoa Cidade Sustentável"» .

At the concert that ended the ceremony, Lura and her band brought mornas, coladeras and the obligatory funaná to a full auditorium. Lura, who calls herself a “bilingual singer” because she was born in Lisbon, despite her origins in Cape Verde, infected the audience with her voice, energy and dance. In the end, there were even those who went up on stage to dance with the Cape Verdean artist.
