Accessible tours network in São Brás de Alportel is being expanded

This work results from the 2017 Participatory Budget of São Brás de Alportel

The network of accessible footpaths in São Brás de Alportel is being extended to Machado dos Santos and Dr. Matos Proença streets. This intervention was the winner of the 2017 Participatory Budget and also foresees the construction of a roundabout at the intersection with Avenida da Liberdade.

The work, which is already underway and has an execution period of 120 days, aims, according to the City Council of São Brás de Alportel, “to provide this area with greater security and mobility”.

To this end, around 94 thousand euros will be invested, which will be spent on «execution of sidewalks and parking, construction of leveled and accessible Crosswalks, the construction of a roundabout at the intersection with Avenida da Liberdade and paving and signage».

"This accessible circuit is intended to interconnect buildings and public spaces in the urban center, thus reducing the difficulties experienced by people with limited mobility, in a bid to modernize the public space and the attractiveness of the county", summarized the Mayor of São Brás Vítor Guerreiro.

“We would very much like, in the short term, to be able to have the urban center 100% accessible to everyone. We want all our residents to feel good living in São Brás de Alportel and that we are an accessible tourism destination, increasingly recognized,” added the São Brasense mayor.
