Portuguese Air Force already has the first female General Officer

Currently, 15% of the Air Force is composed of female soldiers

The ceremony of promotion to the post of Brigadier General of Colonel Regina Mateus, presided over by the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, General Manuel Teixeira Rolo, took place this Thursday, the 27th, in the Main Hall of the General Staff of Air Force in Lisbon.

Brigadier General Regina Mateus is thus the first woman to assume the position of General Officer in the history of the Portuguese Armed Forces.

Brigadier General Regina Mateus is a doctor and, since last July 23, she has held the position of director of the Hospital das Forças Armadas, having joined the permanent staff of the Air Force in 1993.
