Emmy Curl promises to sing themes from the upcoming album in an intimate concert in Faro

Tickets for the show cost 6 euros

Artist Emmy Curl promises to sing «themes from the new album», to be released next year, in an intimate concert to be held this Saturday, December 1st, at 21 pm, at CAPa – Centro de Artes Performativas do Algarve, in Faro.

«I'll play guitar, piano, sing loops, harmonies and I'll also improvise. It's something I'm exploring: letting myself surrender to the unknown and experience things. It becomes unique and, thus, people are part of something that could not happen anywhere else. Only they and I are living it».

This is how Catarina Miranda, the woman who gives body to Emmy Curl, in an interview with Musical-Sul Informação, summarizes the concert that will give this Saturday.

Even so, the artist confesses that she does not like to foresee «what will happen, because it generates expectations and it is something that, at times, betrays us».

Catarina Miranda is preparing a new album, of which she only made known the theme “A Dança do Sol e da Lua”, in which she is accompanied by Vicente de Palma. This song is, for Emmy Curl, «a good sample of the album because it has the archetypes of society, the Moon and the Sun, order and chaos, male and female, and it is this junction that is sometimes difficult in the our world», he says.

As for the new album, “I'm thinking about releasing it in February or March, but before the new year there will be a new single. I'm considering releasing the songs as they emerge, without thinking that I have to release the album. I'm also awaiting support responses, which will shape my decision. But I need to close this process, so that I can start new things», confesses the artist.

Catarina Miranda, now 28 years old, made herself known in 2007 with the EP “Ether”, following the path with “Birds Among The Line” in 2010, and “Origins” in 2012. Only in 2015 she releases her first LP “Navia”.

Earlier this year, she said she was in a process of meeting herself that would be reflected in her next work. This trip also made her look at others and at those around her.

«What I am composing for the next work, and which I will also present at the next concert in the Algarve, is a mix between technology and nature. What I want to explore on my next album is a question that haunts us all: how we manage to adapt to a world full of choices. Because choices bring depression», considers the singer.

Today, more than ever, there is the option of following different paths, something that he believes “will happen more and more”.

Still, what can be a great start to a new world, can also bring, at the same time, wonders and problems that didn't arise before.

For example, “how can technology be integrated into nature and how can it evolve for everyone's benefit. In the lyrics I explore the idea of our options, how we can take them to generate this harmony», explains Emmy Curl.

The album is, admittedly, an interconnection between nature and technology, with themes where Catarina's voice and guitar are enveloped by electronic atmospheres, produced in a homemade way, and others where the acoustic component – just voice and guitar – are packed in a naturally ambient sound.

The new album was even announced for the end of this year, but the various projects in which she is involved led to a postponement.

In 2017, she accepted Bruno's invitation to be part of Papercutz, a project that has taken her to other stages and to explore other realities.

«It gives me the possibility of having another contact with the public and interacting with other musicians, but one thing doesn't cancel out the other. I can create and grow with Papercutz and explore other areas. Alone I'm protected by the guitar and here I'm at the front, in a different contact with the public, discovering new things about stage performance that was something I've never had», reveals the singer who, this year, took on another challenge: giving voice to “To Sorrir I don't need anything”, theme written by Camila Ferraro and behaved by Júlio Resende, with which she got 2nd place in the Festival da Canção.

Although it is not his composition, he accepts it as such and takes it wherever he goes. «This is a song that became part of the show. I'll play a little of what I've been playing for many years, some older songs, which were a milestone in my history and more recent themes, which are part of the new album», concludes Emmy Curl.

Tickets for this show in Faro cost 6 euros.
