The Humanitarian Association of Firefighters of Vila Real de Santo António (AHBVVRSA) will integrate Castro Marim in its designation. This measure "consolidates a relationship that has always existed, since this municipality, the only one in the country without a corporation, was already part of the intervention zone of this Association", says the Chamber of Castro Marim.
“It is a question of justice and it should have happened many years ago, not least because Castro Marim also contributed financially to the corporation. This year, if we approve a 0,39% IMI rate, we will be able to substantially increase the amount [about 150 thousand euros/year]», stresses Francisco Amaral, mayor of Castro Marim.
Although Castro Marim has only now joined the designation of VRSA Volunteer Firefighters, «the cooperation and communion of objectives between AHBVVRSA and the municipality of Castro Marim already has projects in place, which have strengthened ties and constituted good examples of this partnership, such as the signing of a protocol between both institutions and INEM, which allowed the installation of the Medical Emergency Post (PEM) in Azinhal».
An investment project of around 627 thousand euros is still in progress, «which will allow a new Local Training Unit, also in Azinhal, for management and coordination by AHBVVRSA, within the scope of its status as a training entity integrated in the National School network of Firemen”, concludes the Chamber of Castro Marim.
