Castro Marim City Council is going to acquire six stores in Quinta da Cerca for 220 thousand euros to create new facilities for the local Santa Casa da Misericórdia Nursery and Activities of Free Time (ATL) and spaces for associations.
This establishment “has been living for some years with the precarious conditions of its facilities, where it accommodates around 55 children”, framed the Castro-Marinean Chamber.
This led the permanent executive, in a minority in the Chamber, to present a proposal for the acquisition of these lots, which was approved, at the third attempt, on Monday.
The municipality says that, now, it will be possible to resolve “an unsustainable situation regarding the continuity of the provision of this service in the old space” of the Nursery and ATL of SCM de Castro Marim, while creating “new opportunities to respond to associations /entities that may need to carry out their activities».
«The mayor welcomes this decision by the executive, as the children of Castro Marim will finally have more dignified facilities and Santa Casa da Misericórdia will manage to improve the provision of this service, so essential for children in the development of skills and new learning. », concluded the Chamber.
