There will be special concerts with no shortage of Christmas songs. The Algarve Jazz Orchestra invited the Dutch singer Ilse Huizinga and the French guitarist Hugo Lippi for «memorable» shows in Loulé, Lagoa and Tavira, to be held this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
Basically, these will be concerts in which there will be «jazz rhythms, but also well-known Christmas songs, with a spectacular arrangement», said Ilse Huizinga, in an interview with Sul Informação.
The concerts will take place at the Loulé Market (this Friday at 21 pm), at the Lagoa Municipal Auditorium, on Saturday, the 30th, at 15 pm, and at the Igreja da Misericórdia, in Tavira, on Sunday, the 21th, at 30 pm .
«I have high expectations for the shows. I really like the idea of an international orchestra, not only with Portuguese people, but bringing together people from other nationalities, like me singing, or Hugo, who is French, on guitar», added the Dutch singer. This is also the “spirit of Christmas”, as he referred to our newspaper.
Hugo Lippi, the other guest artist, confessed to Sul Informação be looking forward to these three concerts. «For me, it's a unique moment, because it's the first time I'm with the Orchestra, but I looked at the repertoire, I heard it and I liked it a lot».
is that this tour Christmas is really “special”, according to Hugo Alves, artistic director of Orquestra de Jazz do Algarve.
"The contracts we make always have their difficulty, but we have these two guests who will ensure, together with us, jazz and Christmas music," he said, in an interview with Sul Informação.
The concerts in Loulé and Tavira will be free of charge, but for the show in Lagoa, it is necessary to purchase a ticket, something that can be done here. “Ticket sales are going well. The Municipal Auditorium, in principle, will be sold out», said Hugo Alves.
This is also what Ilse Huizinga expects. “I always have a very enthusiastic public,” he said, laughing, to our newspaper.
Recently, it was learned that the Orquestra de Jazz do Algarve is going to professionalize its structure, with the support of all municipalities, in what is «great news», in the words of Hugo Alves.
«We have to thank the whole Algarve. The affection of the public over these 15 years has shown the importance of the project and the municipalities have recognized our value. Now, all the municipalities will help us financially and we will, with that, manage to have more presentations».
«We have been a great card in the region and, for that, I thank all the mayors and I guarantee that we will return all this in music», concluded the trumpeter and director of OJA.
These concerts of the cycle “In a Christmas High”, organized by the Orquestra de Jazz do Algarve, have the support of the Ministry of Culture, the General Directorate of Arts and the municipalities of Loulé, Lagoa and Tavira.
