The Algarve won two world prizes at the World Travel Awards, the Oscars do Turismo, whose gala took place this Saturday, December 1st, in Lisbon, with the distinctions to be awarded to the Vila Joya restaurant, in Albufeira, and to the Conrad hotel, in Quinta do Lago (Almancil).
Thus, Vila Joya was distinguished as the Best Haute Gastronomy Hotel (fine dining) of the world, while Conrad Algarve won the award for World's Leading Luxury Leisure Resort (Best Luxury Leisure Resort).
The awarding gala of the World Travel Awards took place, for the first time, on national soil, with Portugal winning, for the second consecutive year, the distinction of “Best Destination in the World”. Lisbon was already elected as “Best Destination City” and “Best City Break Destination” worldwide.
In total, Portugal has won 16 world prizes. Madeira, for example, was distinguished as “Best Insular Destination” and Turismo de Portugal won the “Best Tourism Organization” award.
At European level, the Algarve won eight awards. The Hotel Quinta do Lago was distinguished as Best Beach Resort and Vila Joya joined the world award for Best Boutique Resort in Europe. Conrad Algarve won the award for best Lifestyle Resort.
As for the Ria Park Hotel, in Almancil, it was twice distinguished, in the Europe category, as Best Family Resort and Best Conference Hotel.
Finally, Vila Vita Parc, in Lagoa, won the award for Europe's Leading Luxury Hotel Villas (Best Luxury Hotel & Villas) and Dunas Douradas, in Almancil, in Europe's Leading Resort Villas (Best villa development in Europe).
The list is complete with Monte Santo Resort, in Carvoeiro (Lagoa), which was distinguished as the most romantic resort in Europe.
at eight oscar of European tourism, four nationals joined: Best Conference Hotel in Portugal (Ria Park Hotel & Spa), Best Family Resort in Portugal (Hotel Quinta do Lago), Best Residence Hotel in Portugal (Monte Santo Resort) and also the Best Resort in Portugal (Hilton Vilamoura As Cascatas Golf Resort & Spa, in Vilamoura).
Created in 1993, the World Travel Awards distinguish the best examples of good practice in tourism on a global scale.
