Torches, light installations and even a “water melody” invade Loulé at the LUZA Festival

The Festival started this Thursday, but there is still a lot to enjoy until tomorrow, Saturday

LUZA has already started to light up the historic center of Loulé and will continue to spread art in the form of light until tomorrow, Saturday, November 3rd. The Algarve International Festival of Light returned in 2018, after making its debut last year, and with new features, such as workshops and an exhibition.

Yesterday, the first night of the Algarve International Festival of Light had more than 8.000 visitors, according to the organization.

The Festival opened with the Torch Light Parade, which, with its social nature, led people to walk the path from the Sovereign Mother to the fairgrounds. Visitors, artists and event organizers were together in this social action and were part of an important moment for LUZA. The torches formed the logo of Associação Existir, an institution in the Algarve that has benefited from the donations.

Today, November 2nd, in the morning and afternoon, LUZA Kids – Lumo meets Precious Plastic will be held, a demonstration aimed at schools, with the transformation of plastic into artistic pieces. After the opening of the premises, this space will be open to the public, simply bringing lids or even clean plastic bottles.

Also this Friday, the workshop “Introduction to Light Painting Photography art” will be held, with Kim Von Coels and Phil Fisher, with a meeting point at the ArtCatto Gallery. This workshop has a limit of 10 people, who will have to register in advance via [email protected] (more information on the festival website).

LUZA reunites national and foreign artists from different countries, namely Portugal, Spain, Scotland, Slovenia, Mexico, France, Germany, Russia and Austria.

Tomorrow, Saturday, the 3rd, the conference “Working with Light” will be held, with the festival's artists invited for a debate and reflection on the theme and its importance.

The exhibition (See the Light), about Light Painting, with artist Kim Von Coels, is also planned, as well as the presentation of two works from the LUZA LAB project, box light, by Filipa Cruz (France/Portugal), and Sound Memory, by Nuno Mika (Portugal).

The event is produced by ByBeau Studio and Eventors' Lab, with support from the Municipality of Loulé and “365Algarve”. LUZA's sponsors are Euroligistix, Conrad Hotel, Electroohm, Interior Design by Maria Raposo and French Gourmet. As partners, it has ArtCatto Gallery, Casa da Empreita, Loulé Design Lab and 11 da Villa.
