Master's thesis in Architecture about Aljezur motivates lecture and exhibition

There will be three speakers: the young author of the thesis (Rúben Castro), José Nuno Beirão and Maria João Pereira Neto

«Aljezur, from a vernacular language to a contemporary materialization» is the theme of the lecture, followed by a debate, scheduled for November 13, at 18 pm, at Espaço+, in Aljezur.

This is yet another activity promoted within the scope of the partnership between the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon and the Municipality of Aljezur, in this case for the purpose of the Master's thesis in Architecture written by Rúben Castro.

The lecture and the exhibition that supports it will focus mainly on the theme of «safeguarding the built heritage of the old town of Aljezur, which is the identity of the village and is being destroyed, or at least disfigured», he explained to Sul Informação Professor Doctor Maria João Pereira Neto, from the Faculty of Architecture at UL, who, with the architect Professor José Nuno Beirão, supervised the thesis.

«An example to follow: theses cannot, and should not, be confined to the spaces of the academy. Rúben Castro has a remarkable work that, at the right time, the local authority wanted to publicize», added that researcher.

The exhibition will be on display until December 14, at Espaço+, in Aljezur.
