“The Importance of Volunteering in the Community” is the theme of the seminar scheduled for the Municipal Library of Faro, on December 5th, to mark the International Day of Volunteering.
This event is part of the project “Histórias Contadas Sorrisos Partilhados”, an initiative of the Municipality of Faro and the Saúde em Dialogue Platform, which, since last March, has been promoting activities with the contribution of volunteers, aimed at the elderly, and which promote active ageing.
The seminar is «a way of presenting to the community the dynamic that the project aims to create, both in terms of volunteering and in terms of healthy occupation of free time and well-being of the elderly», explains the Chamber of Faro.
Organized in a joint action between the Municipality of Faro, the Saúde em Dialogue Platform and CENIE, will share examples of good practices from UALg V+, IPDJ, Banco Alimentar and Liga Portuguesa Contra o Cancer, in the morning panel.
In the afternoon, in addition to the presentation of the project “Stories Telling Smiles Shared”, it will feature contributions from the Volunteer Confederation, Associação Coração Amarelo and the Social Responsibility Department of Montepio, for a reflection on the theme “Communicating and motivating volunteers”.
The seminar will end with the inauguration of the photography exhibition “Tell me your story”, organized by ALFA, which portrays seniors through photos of 5 elderly participants in the project “Histórias Contadas Sorrisos Partilhados” project.
The seminar is free to enter and confers a certificate of attendance, and prior registration is required via email [email protected].
