CCV de Lagos celebrates Scientific Culture with Urban Geometry and programming

Centro Ciência Viva de Lagos will join the celebrations of the National Day of Scientific Culture

The Centro Ciência Viva (CVV) in Lagos will celebrate the National Day of Scientific Culture, on Saturday, November 24, with a tour and workshop on Urban Geometry and various programming challenges and electronic circuits.

The party program starts at 10:00 am, with «a walk through the streets of Lagos dedicated to Mathematics and Art». Those who participate in this tour dedicated to Urban Geometry will learn to «identify geometric patterns and friezes on sidewalks, platbands, tiles and other artistic representations», according to the CCV of Lagos.

After the collection of impressions, there will be a workshop, where everyone “can unleash their creativity”. Enrollment in this initiative must be done online.

In the afternoon, between 14:30 pm and 17:30 pm, Programming Challenges and Electronic Circuits will be launched.

«On this day you will have the possibility to play EdBall, giving instructions to your robot with a television remote. To complement its knowledge in Science and Technology, it will also have at its disposal some Arduino controllers and sensors to assemble electronic circuits, as well as Lego Mindstorms that it will be able to control with block programming», describes the Centro Ciência Viva lacobrigense.

In the Edball Robotic Challenge, participants will «learn to program with the Edisons, ending up with a ball game with these friendly robots».

The CCV de Lagos will also propose some challenges to solve with Lego Mindstorms and make known «the basic rules for building an electronic circuit», in a robotic challenge where the audience will have the opportunity to «understand how we can obtain fun results with an Arduino».

The National Day of Scientific Culture was created in 1996. The 24th of November was chosen for its celebration because it was on this day (in 1906) that Rómulo de Carvalho was born, the Physics and Chemistry teacher responsible for promoting science and education. of scientific culture on national soil.
