Solidarity walk marks the reopening of the trail between Caldas and Monchique

Money raised from registration is intended to finance the replanting of burned fruit trees

A solidary walk, to encourage the return to the Monchique trails after the great fire, will be promoted next Saturday, November 17th, at 10:00 am, by the QRER Cooperative as creator and promoter of the initiative Algarve Walking Season.

On this day, the reopening of the trail between Caldas and Monchique will be celebrated. It is an easy 10-kilometre route, «where you will be able to enjoy plural vegetation and a landscape that is still intact», guarantees the organization.

It is also a solidary activity, in the sense that the registration fee for the walk reverts to Monchique families who need to reforest their land.

Thus, each inscription corresponds to a fruit tree (Pereiro, Ameixoeira, Limoeiro or Laranjeira) that the Monchique Help Association will distribute along with a support kit to identified families.

The event has the cooperation of the cooperating company proactivetur, which will guide the activity, with the support of the Algarve Tourist Region, from Monchique City Council, from Monchique Thermal Villa and the Associação Ajuda Monchique.

It is aimed at the general public, with registration cost 6 euros, to be paid on the day of the walk.

Registration can be done through the online form or in want.pt, until the 16th of November (14 pm).

For the same purpose, you can also contact the organization via mobile phone (+351) 960 152 222 or by email: [email protected]
