Portimonense returns to handball

Modality will be managed by the club and not by SAD

Portimonense will have handball again, sport that had been extinct for 30 years from the Portimão club. 

In a statement, Portimonense explains that this «may be considered the “year zero”» of the sport. «We will only have a team of Male Initiates in the competition aspect of the National Championship», he explains.

Custódio Coelho and Luís Paiva will be the directors for the section, while José Ricardo will assume the role of coach. Finally, Luís Carrilho will be the coordinator and technical manager.

«In view of the next season, we are already preparing other levels, namely from minis to youths, about which we will soon give more information about the locations and dates of the respective training sessions for young male and female athletes between 7 and 16 years old», says the Portimonense.

The emblem of Portimão is also grateful for «the effort of all those involved in this process, which aims to return to the club» one of the modality with «history» and which «has won for Portimonense Sporting Clube several titles and the presence of athletes at the level of several selections'.

Handball will be the responsibility of Portimonense Clube (and not SAD).
