Registration for the activities of the new Algarve Walking Festival, the “Barão de São João – Walk&Art Fest”, which takes place from the 1st to the 4th of November, in this town in the municipality of Lagos. 

During four days, participants will have a choice of 34 tours that can be short or long distance or even themed (botany, birdwatching, archaeology, geology and cultural heritage) and 22 workshops. Entries can be made. here

All these activities will be free and promoted by tourist entertainment companies and other partner entities of the event. For the youngest, environmental education activities will be promoted every day.

This Festival will highlight the artistic component, bringing together 15 local artists who will exhibit works at the Barão de São João Cultural Center, the venue for the event, and it will also be possible to visit an artistic installation inside the Mata de Barão de São João.

Many of these artists will run workshops or even lead some walks.

Also the moments of conviviality were not neglected and there will be a concert with Tiago Saga, leader of the band Time for T, on the 3rd of November, with free entry. Participating in a vegetarian dinner cooked with vegetables grown in the organic garden of “Kultivarte – permaculture and art” and where an African dance performance will be held is another of the animation proposals.

«This Festival, which combines the Walks with Art, promises to have all the necessary ingredients to “warm up” the autumn that has just begun and remain in the memory of all the participants, as there are many entices to enroll», says the organization.

Is that "many paths will be unveiled that are worth knowing, and some of the routes will be dynamized by experts from different areas, but also by some local residents, passionate about the area," he adds.

The initiative is part of the calendar of the Algarve Walking Season (AWS) event, which includes the other two hiking festivals existing in the region (Walking Festival Ameixial and the Alcoutim Walking Festival).

The AWS is an initiative coordinated by the QRER Cooperative – Cooperative for the Development of Low Density Territories, approved under an application from the Support Line for the Development of Tourism in the Interior, promoted by Turismo de Portugal/Region of Tourism of the Algarve.
