The Special Device for Combating Rural Fires will be reinforced until the end of this month of October, decided the Ministry of Internal Administration.
At issue are the «weather forecasts for the second half of October made available by the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) to the National Civil Protection Authority (ANPC)», justifies the tutelage.
Thus, until 31 October, the ground device will be reinforced with 624 more firefighters. About 500 GIPS military personnel of the GNR will be engaged in surveillance and inspection actions.
As for air resources, “10 light helicopters will remain available on a lease basis, three light helicopters owned by the State, six medium amphibious aircraft and three heavy helicopters”.
"It was also decided to increase surveillance and inspection actions by the GNR and PSP in their areas of competence and to strengthen land mobile surveillance, based on the commitment of armed forces patrols, especially in the most sensitive and vulnerable areas" , says the Ministry.
Within the scope of the National Network of Watch Posts, the primary network posts will remain in operation until the 6th of November.
