Arias by Mozart and Rossini open a new artistic season for the Orquestra Clássica do Sul

Orquestra goes to Lisbon with Kátia Guerreiro, to present at Culturgest the concert that was so successful at Festival F

The Opening Concert of the Academic Year of the University of Algarve, which will take place on Saturday, October 6th, at 18 pm, at the Municipal Museum of Faro, marks the opening of the new artistic season of the Orquestra Clássica do Sul, which promises a very diversified program and concerts in different parts of the country.

Some arias by Wolfgang A. Mozart and Gioachino Rossini will be performed by the baritone João Merino, the special guest who will be accompanied by the Orquestra Clássica do Sul, directed by the conductor José Eduardo Gomes. Works by composers Mascagni, L. Delibes and Marcos Portugal are also part of the program. Admission is free.

Chamber music returns with the cycle “Lethes Classico”, which presents the concert “Great French Composers”, at Teatro Lethes, in Faro, on the 12th, at 21 pm. Claude Debussy, Camille Saint-Saëns and J. Françaix are the names that inspire the program of this magical night.

In the Main Church of São Bartolomeu de Messines, the Chamber Music Cycle will be held on Saturday 13th, at 21 pm. Tickets cost 00 euros and can be purchased on site, on the day of the event, from 6:20 pm.

On October 19, the Orquestra Clássica do Sul will perform at the Centro Cultural de Lagos, from 19 pm, under the direction of conductor José Eduardo Gomes. This concert will be dedicated to composers G. Holst, G. Jacob and L. Beethoven.

The cycle “Music and Nature” presents “Two Centuries of French Music”, on the 26th and 27th of October, in the municipal auditoriums of Albufeira and Lagoa, respectively.

With orchestral direction by conductor Rui Pinheiro, the work of great French composers who left their mark on the history of classical music – J. Rameau, C. Debussy and C. Gounod will be made known.

The October program ends on the 31st, Wednesday, at 21 pm, with a concert by the Orquestra Clássica do Sul with Katia Guerreiro, at the Culturgest auditorium, in Lisbon. It is the same concert that the fado singer presented at Festival F, in Faro, so successfully.

Conductor Rui Pinheiro will lead the orchestra. At the concert, some of the fado singer's most notable works will be presented, such as “Até ao Fim”, “9 Amores” and “Mintiras”. More information and reservations by calling 217 905 455.
