Algarvio Henrique Jesus is vice-champion of the under-21 sport fishing world

Portugal became champion for teams thanks to the four young Portuguese fishermen who finished in the top ten

The Algarvian Henrique Jesus became vice-champion of the world of juniors in sport fishing and helped the Portuguese team to become world champion, in the U-16 and U-21 world championship of this sport, which took place on the beaches of Manta Rota and Vila Real de Santo António and ended this Friday.

The Portuguese team was the strongest and managed to place four athletes among the top 10, three of which were from the Algarve. In addition to Henrique Jesus, from the CPND de Albufeira, Fernando Silva, from the club “Os Vilas” (Vila Nova de Santo André), who was fourth in the overall ranking, and the Algarve Francisco Pinto (CPND Albufeira) and João Pacheco (SR Musical Luzense), who secured the 7th and 8th place, respectively.

The Portuguese Federation of Sport Fishing highlighted "the unity, spirit of sacrifice and capacity for suffering of all elements" of the under-21 team, but also of the under-16 team, which, despite not having achieved "a result corresponding to "the developed effort, they never gave up on facing the difficulties that arose».
