An exhibition by Francisco Piçarra, at the Pintor Samora Barros Art Gallery, and two others about World War I are exhibits to see, during the month of October, in Albufeira.

At the beginning of the month, at the Pintor Samora Barros Art Gallery, right in the heart of the city, the exhibition “Introspecção, Vida e Obra”, by Francisco Piçarra, from Albufeires, opened.

«The exhibition, which will be open to the public until the 29th of October, is intended to be a posthumous tribute to a painter who felt his homeland like no one else», says the Câmara de Albufeira.

«Throughout his life, Francisco Piçarra was transposing his artistic vision to the canvas with an impressive aesthetic sensibility».

«Autodidact, he soon distinguished himself in the knowledge and application of the materials that he would use masterfully in the execution of his works. Albufeira, its typical architecture, the white and the shapes of its houses, the fishing boats and the sea are its favorite themes», according to the municipality.

“His artistic maturity would appear at around 22 years of age, when he was completing his obligatory military service. A set of paintings on military themes dates from this period, which are still displayed in the Barracks of Tavira. His works enrich various private collections in the four corners of the world».

The exhibition can be visited from Monday to Saturday from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and from 13:30 pm to 17:30 pm. The Gallery is closed on Sundays and holidays.
