A German tourist who had been caught by a boatman in an unguarded area of ​​Fuzeta-Mar beach was this Tuesday, the 11th, saved from drowning, thanks to the quick intervention of the lifeguard of Olhão, of the lifeguards , a military woman who works at the ISN, a nurse who was there and INEM.

According to the National Maritime Authority, today, at around 12:00 pm, on Fuzeta-Mar beach, an audit team from the Instituto de Socorros a Náufragos (ISN), accompanied by an agent from the local Command of the Maritime Police of Olhão, «was approached by a German citizen who reported that her husband was in difficulties in the water».

Immediately, lifeguards from the nearest bathing unit and a boat from the Olhão Lifeguard Station were called, with an INEM team on board, while it was found that the victim had been caught by a waterer.

The 50-year-old man was already unconscious when he was rescued, but "resuscitation and basic life support maneuvers were soon initiated by the three lifeguards, supported by a military service at the ISN and a nurse that was on site'.

The victim returned to have signs of life and soon there received «differentiated care by the INEM team, which meanwhile arrived on the spot».

The man was eventually transported to the Olhão pier by the lifeboat, always accompanied by the INEM team. On the pier, an ambulance was waiting for him and transported him to the Hospital of Faro.

This operation involved an agent from the Local Command of the Maritime Police of Olhão, an ISN vessel from the Olhão Lifeguard Station with three crew members, three lifeguards from Fuzeta-Mar beach, an INEM team and a military officer. that provides service on the ISN.
