A month of sporting and recreational activities for the whole family, thus marking the beginning of another sporting year, is the promise of the event «Faro Active”, which began on 15th September and continues until 7th October, in an initiative of the Municipality of the Algarve capital.
Until October 7th, there will be many activities available for the entire population, organized with more than 50 associative and business entities, fundamental partners for the success of the event, giving the possibility to try out numerous sports in various sports facilities in the county.
So, this weekend of September 22nd and 23rd, the highlight for the Sport Show in Faro, at Parque de Lazer das Figuras, the central stage of the event and an excellent space for the practice of outdoor activities.
After the night-race march that took place on the 19th, this Saturday and Sunday there will be a solidarity march (on the 22nd) and the “BTT Marathon” (23), as well as demonstration activities and experimentation in many modalities, including fitness, aikido, handball, basketball, boxing, capoeira, dance, soccer, gymnastics, karate, kickboxing, rugby, functional training, horseback riding, chess, yoga and zumba.
The social area will also be highlighted with the Mercadinho Social (September 22nd and 23rd, at Parque de Lazer das Figuras), which will bring together solidarity associations in the municipality, with a view to promoting and disseminating responses, social resources and offers from volunteering promoted by local entities, as well as activities to raise awareness of adapted sports.
Also included under the "Faro Active”, another edition of the Mostra Náutica will take place, on the 29th and 30th, at the Centro Náutico da Praia de Faro. There will be baptisms (bodyboarding, canoeing, kite surfing, stand up paddle, surfing, sailing, windsurfing), canoeing tours, a “SUP Practitioners Meeting” and another edition of the “Ria Formosa Raft Race”.
Highlight also, on other dates and in other places, for the events held at the Nautical Center of Praia de Faro (beach volleyball and sailing), children's soccer and futsal tournaments “Centenarium SC Farense”, “Água de Faro” and Futsal, on the 15th and 16th and 22nd and 23rd of September, respectively.
The program also includes a cycling marathon on the 6th of October, as well as a national meeting of inline skaters, and an international children's football tournament, which will take place on the 5th, 6th and 7th of October.
