Signature of the IC1 contract from Alcácer to Grândola is tomorrow

The work concerns a 15,7 km section of the national road

The minister of Planning and Infrastructure, Pedro Marques, presides this Wednesday, the 12th, at the signing of the contract for the contract to improve the IC1 between Alcácer do Sal and Grândola.

The ceremony is scheduled for 16:50 pm, at CAM – Maintenance Center of Infraestruturas de Portugal, in Grândola.

This work is late, a situation that has raised criticism from users and mayors. In January of this year, Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) had already announced the award of the contract, with a total of 15,7 kilometers, with a lower investment of 4,6 million euros than initially planned (6,4, XNUMXME) and a delivery period of nine months.

According to the City Council of Alcácer do Sal, the IC1, the main national access road to the south of the country, receives around XNUMX vehicles a day, but during the summer the number of vehicles on the road “fires” with the “thousands of tourists heading to the Algarve.

The contract planned by the Government includes the structural rehabilitation of the pavement, the renovation, readaptation and complementation of signaling and safety equipment and the installation of traffic lights, the requalification of drainage systems, which includes the execution of hydraulic passages and cleaning, and repair of ditches and landscape integration interventions.

The requalification work of the IC1 section has been claimed by the users' commission and by the municipalities of Alcácer do Sal and Grândola in recent years, with several protests, slow marches and meetings with parliamentary and government groups.
